The new Fireguard Plus range brings together many years of tried and tested technology combined with the latest innovations in intumescent material.

Fireguard Plus provides extremely low energy performance at 5W (actual 4.7W). The revised England and Wales building regulations Part L, due out in October 2010, state that 3 in 4 fittings need to be low energy and must exceed 45 lamp lumens per circuit Watt, which Fireguard Plus easily passes.

The key to Fireguard Plus is a unique patented thermo plastic intumescent plug which reacts strongly to high temperatures and expands up to eighty times without constraint. When subjected to high temperatures (428°F /220°C and above) the material swells to a solid, dense mass, sealing the back of the can to prevent heat and flames from passing into the ceiling void.
